Welcome new staff at Panyebar February 2016

    We have a new helper with Saludos Ninos, taking over from Paty, our longtime go between at Panyebar.

Rosario lives in San Juan La Laguna where we live and is related to Paty. She assists the teachers by preparing classroom posters and other class materials for our busy teachers.  And she is great with the kids. In addition, she helps with special events and  any problems that may arise with parents or students. Welcome aboard, Rosario!

We gave out thick petates - woven rush mats for the floor, so the kids do not rest on concrete.

Also picked up lovely patchwork quilts from SUDEN to help keep them warm, only 75 cents for us!!

Delivery of world maps for grade class February 11 2016

 Mateo brought down a couple of laminated world maps with detachable flags of all the countries.

Yesterday, he and I delivered one to Jimmy Blanco's school here in San Juan and did a short presentation to the geography class. This is the first teaching aid the grade 8 class has!! There is not another thing in this classroom.

Hard for us to believe. The principal met and thanked us personally for this incredible gift.

The other map, we delivered last week to our learning centre in Panyebar. Now the kids and teachers can track all the visitors who come to their centre. Immediately, they wanted to know where we lived.

February 11th 2016 update

 This is Juana's class at our centre on the first day of school, this year.

February 2016 update

February 6th 2016.

 We had a great day yesterday at Our Early Learning and Nutrition Center, five people , four from Wisconsin and one from California accompanied us. They really got into the spirit of things, making valentine cards with the kids. Bonnie one of the ladies brought all the supplies with her as an activity. To see the smiles on these children who literally have nothing makes all the hard work worthwhile. I tried to capture some of the joy we had on film, attached are a few of those attempts. We thank you for your support to our project, the happy kids show the reason. It is a beautiful day here at the lake. Cheers Brian & Sheila
